Each of the many dots that make up an image, known as pixels, has a color that is represented by a combination of the three primary hues (red, green, and blue). Three bytes, or twenty-four ones or zeros, are often utilized to store each of these pixels. A huge image may have millions of pixels, which means millions of bytes will be needed to store all of the data for that image in a computer or other device.
A camera or cellphone that claims to capture 10 megapixel images actually captures 10 million pixels every picture (mega = million). Furthermore, storing a picture with 10 million pixels requires 30 million bytes, or 30 megabytes, of storage space. Sending this photo, or several others, to a friend via email will need the transmission of thirty megabytes of data, which will take some time to upload and a significant amount of time for the recipient to download.
Compressing the image is one method to minimize file size without resizing it. As you start losing more data and increase compression, image quality will deteriorate. Resizing your photo to reduce the number of pixels needed to store it is an additional technique. While little details may be lost, image quality is not affected by image size reduction.
The majority of smartphones, tablets, laptops, and TV screens only have roughly 1.5 million pixels, therefore the photos from modern cellphones and cameras typically have over 6 million pixels. This means that you end up viewing a shrunken version of the image (you utilize the full image only if you print it). Your image would therefore have roughly the same number of pixels as the screens that will display it if you resize it, cutting its width and height in half. You wouldn't lose any quality or detail, even when viewing your image in full screen mode.
We recommend reducing the size of large photographs to approximately 1900 by 1100 pixels in 90% quality JPG format. You'll have a crisp, flexible photo that you can send to anyone right now.
